Abstract: 
Do scientists who use mathematics need to understand it? My own answer was yes but experience seems to show how wrong I was. We get in the mode of teaching mathematics skills to science students by constant repetition and coverage of all possible variants to a problem. This can be tweaked by removing lectures and using texts, workshops and tutorials for extra engagement, but technology and problem based learning at the from the very start of a course unit could motivate learning....
