Abstract: 
Reports on a pilot Magic of Mechanics event that took place on 6th Jan 2005 at the Mathematics Education Centre, Loughborough University. There is a growing concern about the decline in students studying mechanics at A Level and the consequence for undergraduate courses. With the help of resources developed by Prof Mike Savage and the "Leeds Mechanics Kit", 20 students were invited to take part in the Magic of Mechanics workshop from a local college....
