Participants from university biological science departments were asked to write 3 words to sum up their perceptions and feelings of the maths skill and knowledge of life science undergraduates. These views are summarised and proposed solutions discussed. Might it not be better to start with a series of biological topics, case studies and scenarios and explore the mathematics within each?
