Introduction and Contents

Welcome to the August 2006 issue of the new-look MSOR Connections, the newsletter of the Maths, Stats & OR Network, that contains information on the learning and teaching of Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research within Higher Education. I am particularly pleased to welcome the arrival of Chantal Jackson who started with the Network on the 1 May 2006 as our Design and Print Officer. Chantal is responsible for the new look and layout of Connections (there are more changes to come, so keep looking out for each quarterly issue!), and will be responsible for developing our range of promotional resources and materials. The coming months see a wealth of Network activity: on the 11/12 September, the Network hosts its first dedicated annual conference in conjunction with the related Centres of Excellence in Teaching and Learning; on the 14/15 September we once again offer our Induction Course for New Lecturers; and finally throughout September, October and November we will be running our programme of workshops to support postgraduate students who teach.
