Enriching school maths: the Millennium Mathematics Project

The Millennium Mathematics Project (MMP), co-ordinated at the University of Cambridge, aim to support and enrich maths education for ages 5 to 19 and to promote a public awareness and understanding of mathematics. The prize is the culmination of 6 years growing success, starting in 1999 from a joint imitative between the Faculties of Mathematics and Education. The largest programme is the NRICH website, which publishes free mathematics enrichment material for 5 to 19 year olds; initially aimed at gifted pupils, its remit has now broadened to support all ability ranges. MMP staff working on NRICH also run pupil workshops/master classes and professional development courses for teachers in schools.
