Abstract:
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005 [1] anticipatory duty on HEIs translates for maths images on the web as the need to define the W3C [2] compliant alternative (alt) text description attribute so that screen reader software can describe image content. This article describes one means of achieving such accessibility compliance using the Dragmath [3] LaTeX editor and the free to download eXe [4] that allows the default LaTeX alt text, a literal description of the LaTeX source, to be redefined.
