The Network recognises that postgraduate students within the mathematical sciences often have an important role in supporting the learning experience of undergraduate students within their institution.
To support postgraduate students who undertake teaching duties, the Network has developed a programme of one-day regional, and institutional workshops, that cover issues such as planning and preparing for teaching, facilitating problem solving classes, encouraging participation and providing support, presenting and communicating mathematics, and assessing student work and providing feedback. The workshops are offered in the autumn of each year, however, the Network will offer institutional events by request at any time of the year. If you would like such an event to be hosted within your institution, please contact us.
The following resources are available from the workshop programme:
- Session notes: Planning and preparing for teaching
- Session notes: Encouraging participation and providing support
- Session notes: Assessing student work and providing feedback
- Session notes: Facilitating Problem Solving Classes
- Frequently asked postgraduate teaching queries
