In November 1991, the Mathematical Association set up a working group on Teaching and Learning Undergraduate Mathematics (TaLUM). A group which was widely representative of mathematical interests and experience in higher education first met at King^s College, London in March 1992, and identified particular areas of interest such as learning, content of undergraduate mathematics, difficulties at the school/university interface, and the assessment of understanding.
